Cyber Security Trends 2016: Prevention, defence and reaction are priorities

The complexity of cyber threats will keep on growing so that traditional security measures will be unable to reduce them. CISOs will be forced to rethink on how to operate in the cyberspace and to adapt resilience to this new situation. There will be new threats and highly sophisticated attacks against current platforms, mainly focused on mobile devices or even on drones. Current protection technologies will not be able to detect such threats. This will lead to information leakage, data theft and fraud such as those that took place in 2015 in large companies.

Also, the privacy and the protection of infrastructure and real estate will be affected. Current malware threats such as ransomware, banking Trojans, etc., will increase significantly. These threats will evolve in the interconnected world, specially spreading in the Internet of Things. This will oblige technology suppliers to produce detection, prevention and reaction measures quickly.

The companies should assume that they are in a state of continuous compromise, and that’s why we, the security experts, must reimagine our approach to security in order to develop an adaptive architecture that protects organizations from advanced attacks. We shouldn’t forget that building collaborative ecosystems and adaptive defence are also important key points for the future security controls.
